Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, speaking Monday at the opening of the Knesset's winter session, said that Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas was a "legitimate partner" in the peace process.
"Israel has no interest in the continued suffering of the Palestinian people," the prime minister said.
MK Ahmed Tibi (UAL) took issue with Olmert's remarks and was reprimanded by Knesset speaker Dalia Itzik for speaking out of turn.
