PM: Evacuation of northerners during war never considered

"The evacuation of northern residents during the Second Lebanon War was not considered even for one moment and as long as I am prime minister it won't be. We do not run," Prime Minister Ehud Olmert told the State Control Committee on Monday. The prime minister noted that 140,000 northern residents were bussed out for a recreation period of one or two days, contrasting the operation, which he emphasized was "fully funded and organized by the state," to the campsite for 4,000 people set up by businessman Arkadi Gaydamak.
