Prime Minister Ehud Olmert will meet with Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas on Monday as part of a series of measures by Israel to lend support to Abbas' administration in its struggle against the Islamist Hamas organization, Olmert's office said Sunday.
Olmert's spokesman David Baker said the meeting would likely happen in Jerusalem. It would be the first meeting between the two leaders since a June 25 summit that followed Hamas ouster of Abbas' Fatah movement from the Gaza Strip in a five-day civil war earlier in June.
