"It is a wild and irresponsible exaggeration to say that we need to care for all infiltrators," Prime Minister Ehud Olmert told the Knesset on Wednesday during a debate on the Sudanese refugees. "To present anyone who has crossed into Israel as someone who we have a humanitarian obligation to care for is an irresponsible exaggeration. Where did this idea come from?" asked prime minister. Olmert asserted that there were only 498 refugees in Israel adding that there was no reason for rebukes or preaching. At the end of the debate, the Knesset approved Olmert's speech.
