Israel is not prepared to pay whatever price [Cpl. Gilad] Schalit's kidnappers demand for his release, Prime Minister Ehud Olmert told the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee Wednesday. "We can't decide that everything is permissible," Olmert said, adding that he was "the one who was in constant contact with [Schalit's] family." "My heart is broken," the prime minister added, "but we have to act responsibly."
