The Prime Minister's Office confirmed that Ehud Olmert and Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas would meet next week, but said a date had not been set.
Abbas and Olmert are expected to discuss Hamas's takeover of the Gaza Strip last week.
Olmert told US President George W. Bush in a meeting Tuesday at the White House that he wanted to make "every possible effort to cooperate" with Abbas, whose Fatah movement seeks peace with Israel, but was vanquished by Hamas in Gaza.
