A pedestrian was killed overnight Friday when he was hit by a cab near Mitzpe Aviv, in the Western Galilee. Police said that the pedestrian, a 57-year-old Haifa resident, was walking in an area where the visibility was poor. The driver of the vehicle alerted rescue services immediately after the accident. In another incident Friday night, two young girls were seriously injured when they were hit by a car as they crossed the street near Rosh Pinah. Earlier Friday, nine people were injured in a head-on collision between two vehicles in the Western Galilee, between Tefel and Karmiel. One of the casualties was in critical condition, one was seriously injured and the other seven were lightly hurt. Police said that one of the drivers swerved from his lane for reasons still unclear.
