President Shimon Peres on Monday night issued a statement castigating MK Arye Eldad (NRP) for incitement.
Regardless of any political opinion, declared Peres, no one in Israel has the right in the course of the political debate to use language that can lead to violence.
Israeli values are based on democracy and Jewish morality is enshrined in the law, stated Peres.
Earlier in the day, Eldad said the punishment for anyone who acts to hand over state controlled territory to others "is life imprisonment or death," referring to the Golan Heights.
