Deputy Prime Minister Shimon Peres will travel to Germany Tuesday to try to move the negotiations for the release of Gilad Shalit forward. Peres, along with US Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice, is to be awarded a prize for his work to promote peace in the Middle East.
Rice will arrive in Israel Wednesday after meeting with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak in Cairo on Tuesday.
Rice will meet with Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, Tzipi Livni, and Defense Minister Amir Peretz.
