Defense Minister Amir Peretz said on Monday that the Saudi peace initiative could be a basis for negotiations, but that there were clauses in the proposal that Israel disagrees with, Israel Radio reported.
Speaking after a meeting with his Polish counterpart, Peretz noted that the Saudi plan strengthens moderate Arab leaders as opposed to the bellicose leadership in Iran.
Peretz also addressed the demonstration in Homesh, saying that it was the settlers' right to protest, but that the army was on hand to prevent disturbances.
