Defense Minister Amir Peretz told Prime Minister Ehud Olmert on Sunday that he objected to a proposed NIS 1.6 billion cut in the defense budget. Peretz said the attempt to place the defense budget in direct competition with the funds for welfare services was unacceptable, Army Radio reported. He said he would bring an alternative proposal to the next government meeting.
