A man in Petah Tikva, said to be approximately 60 years-old, died from severe trauma caused to his head Friday night in what police said was an apparent homicide. A large number of police officers converged on the Petah Tikva neighborhood after Magen David Adom ambulances responding to an emergency call found the gravely injured man, lying unconscious and not breathing in a pool of his own blood. Police said an "sharp object," which had not yet been found, caused considerable damage to the man's head, and despite "intense" efforts to resuscitate him by both medics on the scene and doctor's at Belinson Medical Center, he was pronounced dead, Magen David Adom said. Petah Tikva police established a perimeter around the vicinity and were conducting searches, police officials said.
