Police: Biker killed in Kiryat Ata blast en route to hit

Motorcyclist, released after 6 years for role in attempted murder, was carrying large amount of explosives.

The motorcyclist killed Thursday when his bike exploded in Kiryat Ata was en route to an underworld assassination, police said Friday.
 
The man has been identified as Shimon Twizer, 26, from Kiryat Yam.

Police said Twizer had recently been released from prison after serving six years for his involvement in an attempted hit.

Several passersby were treated on the scene for shock.

Senior Northern District Police brass and a bomb squad attended the scene of the blast. Police said the bike was carrying a large amount of explosives.

Eye witnesses described hearing a very loud explosion, and seeing the motorcycle go up in flames.
