Police looking into Or Yehuda New Testament burnings

Or Yehuda Police have passed on the results of an inquiry into the burnings of hundreds of copies of the New Testament to the Israel Police for further investigation, a spokeswoman said Thursday. "The national headquarters are now continuing to examine this issue," the spokeswoman said. Meanwhile, the Anti-Defamation League condemned the book burnings, and called for respect for holy texts of all religions. "We condemn this heinous act as a violation of basic Jewish principles and values," said ADL Interfaith Director Rabbi Eric J. Greenberg. "The Jewish people can never forget the tragic burning of Talmuds and Torahs throughout history. It is essential that we respect the sacred texts of other faiths."
