Police on high alert following suspected infiltration near Eilat

Police and IDF security forces were put on high alert in and around Eilat Wednesday evening after receiving warnings that terrorists managed to infiltrate the border from Egypt. Accordingly, security forces were boosted throughout the city and along the border so as to conduct more extensive searches. However, initial warnings were followed by reports on Army Radio that the infiltrators were actually Israeli tourists who had lost their way. Meanwhile, Egyptian media reported on Tuesday that five Palestinians armed with explosive belts were arrested in Taba. According to Egyptian officials, the men were planning to conduct a terror attack in Israel.
