Israel Police announced on Tuesday that they would set up checkpoints at entrances to cities and along main roads throughout the country, they asked drivers to be patient.
Hundreds of police officers were to be deployed in marketplaces, synagogues and other crowded places, Israel Radio reported.
The IDF offered the police eight companies to assist in securing city centers over the holiday.
