Police uncover BMW scam in Tel Aviv

Tel Aviv police on Thursday uncovered a scam in which new BMW cars were stolen via the use of duplicate keys after being sold to customers. Sami Shalabi of Beit Hananya and Ziad Buga of Jerusalem were arrested early Thursday morning after allegedly trying to steal another BMW in Tel Aviv. Police believe that BMW's representative in Jordan ordered the duplicate keys from the factory in Germany and sent them to the thieves in Israel. The keys were used to steal the cars, which were then transported to Jordan via the Palestinian Authority. In the past few months, 12 cars have been stolen.
