Israel Postal Service (IPS) employees held a strike on Sunday in protest of the recommendation by the committee led by economist Eli Sagi not to allow the IPS to lower its tariffs. Post offices and postal banks were closed across the country, letters and parcels were not delivered and income tax transfers were stopped. Those steps were in addition to the restrictions which were already in place for more than a week, which included no mail delivery to peripheral neighborhoods and no delivery of diplomatic mail. On Saturday night, Communications Minister Ariel Atias, Finance Ministry Director General Yarom Ariev, Histadrut Chairman Ofer Eini and IPS Director General Avi Hochman were set to meet in Tel Aviv in an attept to reach a solution to the crisis, but the meeting was canceled due to technical reasons.
