Prodi's plane delayed due to Palestinian present

Italian Prime Minster Romano Prodi's plane was held up at Ben Gurion Airport on Tuesday night after security personnel noticed he had taken on board a present he had received on an earlier visit to a Palestinian refugee camp. The Italian prime minister failed to inform security personnel of the gift during the routine questioning before he boarded the flight. Security personnel took the present away from Prodi and informed him it would be sent on to the Italian embassy in Tel Aviv after undergoing security checks.
