Qureia: W. Bank construction plan dangerous

Former Palestinian Prime Minister Ahmed Qureia on Tuesday called Israel's recent request for bids to build 700 homes in the West Bank a dangerous move, and warned Israeli leaders against making unilateral moves. The government of Prime Minister Ehud Olmert placed ads in newspapers on Monday requesting proposals for the new construction in the Maaleh Adumim and Betar Illit settlements, both outside Jerusalem. The project is the largest so far by the Olmert government, which was elected on a platform calling for the withdrawal from most Jewish settlements. "For us, this is a very dangerous development which aims perhaps to satisfy the demands of the far right and the settlers in Israel," Qureia told a news conference in Paris.
