Rabbi Baruch Abu Hazeira, in a letter to Shas' spiritual leader Rabbi Ovadia Yosef, blasted Minister of Industry, Commerce and Trade Eli Yishai, calling him a liar and a cheater. The letter referred to what Abu Hazeira believed was Yishai's responsibility for preventing MK Ya'acov Margi's appointment as Shas' fourth minister. Rabbi Yosef, in his reply, expressed unwavering support for Yishai, saying that an attack on Yishai was equivalent to an attack on the Council of Torah Sages.
