Ramon: A quarter of settlers will agree to evacuation-compensation

Vice Premier Haim Ramon on Thursday assessed that a quarter of the settlers residing east of the security barrier in the West Bank would be willing to leave their homes in exchange for compensation if a comprehensive agreement with Palestinians was reached. "The evacuation-compensation plan will allow Israel to develop the large settlement blocs that will remain in our hands, including Ma'ale Adumim, Givat Ze'ev and Betar Illit," he told French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner in Jerusalem. Ramon said Kouchner agreed with his assessment.
