Ramon seeks to reinstate direct election of PM

Justice Minister Haim Ramon said on Tuesday that he was seeking to reinstate direct election of Israel's prime ministers - as opposed to the current system, whereby the prime minister is the head of party that earns the largest number of votes - and said that he planned to present a bill to that effect in the near future.
