Syrian President Bashar Assad is prepared for a "preliminary meeting" with Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, Channel 10 quoted the London-based Al-Hayat newspaper as saying on Wednesday night.
According to the report, Assad is not yet ready for "negotiations" but said that if there were positive results from the meeting "we will respond immediately."
The Prime Minster's Office said that it was examining the report.
