Rescue forces are searching for eight people who went hiking near Masada on Monday but did not return before sunset, Army Radio reported.
The hikers had reportedly planned to rappel down waterfalls in Nahal Tse'elim, but did not make it out of the valley before dark.
The hikers' location was unknown, but the radio station reported that one managed to send a text message to his family, in which he said that all of the hikers were alright.
