Israeli Muslims will be permitted to visit immediate family members living in the Gaza Strip during Thursday's beginning of the three-day Id al-Fitr celebrations marking the end of Ramadan, the army said.
Those wishing to enter Gaza must submit a request to the office of the Coordination of Government Activities in the Territories at the Erez terminal crossing.
Civilians who receive permission will be permitted to travel with their spouses and children.
In addition, 4,000 Palestinians from the West Bank will be permitted to enter Israel during the holiday to visit relatives.
Permission will be given to Palestinians aged 40 and above as well as children up to the age of 16. One thousand Palestinian residents of the West Bank who meet the same age criteria will also be allowed to travel to Gaza.
During the holiday, the army will remove several checkpoints in the West Bank in order to facilitate the movement of Palestinians celebrating the holiday.
