Rice lands in Israel, heads straight to meeting with Olmert in J'lem

US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice arrived in Israel late Saturday, and headed directly to Jerusalem for dinner with Prime Minister Ehud Olmert. Rice hopes to move peace talks between Olmert and Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas along faster, and monitor progress on the ground. Olmert and Abbas and scheduled to meet on Monday. Rice will hold a string of meetings with Israeli and Palestinian leaders on Sunday, including three-way sessions with Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni and her negotiating partner, former Palestinian Authority prime minister Ahmed Qurei, and another with Defense Minister Ehud Barak.
