The Judges' Selection Committee on Tuesday appointed Eliezer Rivlin Deputy President of the Supreme Court. He fills a vacancy that lasted since the retirement of Justice Mishael Cheshin in February. President Moshe Katsav said he would swear Rivlin in to his new post after having suspended himself for the ceremony of Supreme Court President Dorit Beinisch last week. However, Rivlin is spending the next six weeks abroad and the ceremony will reportedly not take place until his return.
