A Sharon-area resident was fatally injured when the bicycle he was riding was hit by a commercial vehicle on Highway 5 on Saturday. The collision occurred near the Ramat Hasharon tennis courts, when the commercial vehicle suddenly swerved to the right for an unknown reason, hitting the bicyclist on the shoulder of the road. The bicyclist suffered massive injuries and was taken by a MDA rescue team to Petah Tikva's Beilinson Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries. The vehicle's driver was detained for investigation by Tel Aviv District Traffic Police.
