Schalit family demands that gov't cease transferring funds to Hamas

Noam and Aviva Schalit, parents of kidnapped IDF soldier Gilad, demanded Tuesday that Israel cease all money transfers to the Gaza Strip. They also requested that the government convene a special cabinet meeting to discuss the issue of their son. The Schalits have threatened to petition the Supreme Court if their demands are not met. On Tuesday morning, the Schalit family attorneys sent a letter on the matter to Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, to Defense Minister Ehud Barak and to Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni. "Continuing to funnel money into Hamas's coffers is a totally unreasonable policy," Schalit told the Ynet news Website.
