Residents of Sderot were expected to launch a strike protesting "the governments powerlessness in everything concerning the city's security." The municipality planned on shutting down all civil services and conduct demonstrations outside the prime minister's residence in Jerusalem, Army Radio reported.. Last week, OC Southern Command Maj.-Gen. Yitzhak Gershon revealed that only half of the city's nurseries were in the process of fortification against rocket strikes. Sderot is a frequent target of rocket attacks launched out of the Gaza Strip.
