Deputy Shin Bet (Israel Security Services) told the cabinet on Thursday that nothing will come out of Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas and Hamas leader Khaled Maashal's meeting on Tuesday.
"Unlike an organized country, the political echelon of the Palestinian Authority can never give an order that will be implemented," he said.
"Both Abbas and [Palestinian Authority Prime Minister Ismail] Haniyeh gave orders several times that were never followed through. Therefore, the Shin Bet foresees that the violence will continue."
