The soldier who died in Gaza Wednesday morning was Sgt. Ben Kubany, 20, from Hadera, the army announced later in the day. Kubany was killed during a firefight with Palestinian gunmen in the southern Gaza Strip, near Khan Yunis. The IDF said that during an operation "against terrorist infrastructure" near the border fence, the soldiers encountered fierce resistance as Palestinians fired bullets and an anti-tank missile at the soldiers. The troops retuned fire, killing one of the Palestinians and wounding several others.
