Soldiers' moms protest Mahsom Watch lecture to IDF

Mothers of soldiers stationed in Judea and Samaria tried to block on Sunday the entry of a Mahsom Watch woman into a Jordan Valley IDF base. The woman was scheduled to lecture to the soldiers on the base. In a letter to Chief of General Staff Lt.-Gen. Dan Halutz, the mothers protested that the lecture apparently represented a blatant attempt to politicize the IDF, Channel 10 reported. Halutz, who met with Mahsom Watch women just two weeks ago, responded by releasing a directive barring representatives of the group from lecturing before soldiers. Mahsom Watch constitutes a volunteer organization composed of women who monitor checkpoints in the West Bank in order to ensure humane treatment of Palestinians.
