State prosecution orders probe against Burg

The state prosecution on Sunday instructed the police to begin a criminal investigation against former Knesset speaker Avraham Burg for his involvement in the Ashot-Ashkelon affair. The State Comptroller, Micha Lindenstrauss, recently checked into Burg's involvement in the case and decided that the process of privatizing and selling the factory to a group of investors headed by Burg was not within regulations. Two weeks ago, Burg attacked Lindenstrauss, who he said had become a "political player."
