Steinitz: No negotiations over reservists unless receive sign of life

Israel must remain firm that there will be no negotiations with Hizbullah over kidnapped reservists Ehud Goldwasser and Eldad Regev until Israel receives a sign of life from them, MK Yuval Steinitz (Likud) told Israel Radio on Sunday morning. Responding to the Der Spiegel report that Prime Minister Ehud Olmert was planning to announce that the two soldiers were no longer alive, Steinitz added that the soldiers' families must be told the whole truth, even if they don't want to hear it, and even if the information is only 99 percent true. "As long as there is no sign of life from the captives, we must assume that they are dead unless we hear otherwise, so as not to encourage their captors to trade in information on their condition," he said.
