Education Minister Yuli Tamir met with representatives of Israel's student unions on Saturday and agreed to disband the subcommittee charged with discussing the recommendations of the Shochat Committee on university tuition.
Another subcommittee will be formed, and student representatives will participate, Army Radio reported.
The student unions cancelled the strike that was expected to begin Sunday, freezing the start of the second semester.
