Suspect in deadly Rishon stabbing turns himself in

An arrest was made Sunday in the death of 17-year-old Lod resident Ya'acov Geta, who was stabbed to death a day earlier outside a club in Rishon Lezion. A Rishon Lezion Police spokesman confirmed that a 20-year-old suspect turned himself in and confessed to the stabbing, but declined to release his name. Around 5 a.m. on Saturday, emergency services received a call that a youth was wounded outside the Shelter bar in Rishon. Paramedics found Geta with stab wounds to the neck and head. They rushed him to Assaf Harofeh Hospital in Tzrifin, where he soon died. The murder weapon was retrieved from the scene on Saturday morning, and eight youths were detained whom police believed had witnessed the killing. Police later released them, saying they were not involved in Geta's death. Police often patrol the industrial zone, which has numerous clubs and bars, as it is a flashpoint for youth violence. While police were on patrol in the area Friday night and early Saturday, none were nearby when the stabbing took place. Last summer, Tzahi Baha, 18, was stabbed to death in Rishon Lezion in a similar incident. That murder led to the arrest of a Be'er Ya'acov resident and his father. The youth was charged for his involvement in the incident, and his father for lying to police.
