A senior Syrian official on Friday denied that Damascus had agreed to place the Russian advanced Iskander missile system in Syria. According to the Syria news agency, SANA, the official claimed that the subject had not even arisen during the previous day's talks between Syrian President Bashar Assad and his Russian counterpart Dmitry Medvedev. In any case, Acting Russian Ambassador to Israel Anatoly Yurkov told The Jerusalem Post on Thursday that Moscow had no intention of placing the missile system in Syria.
