The Tel Aviv Municipality apologized on Wednesday morning for the massive traffic congestions drivers encountered on Tuesday night as nearly a quarter of a million people were heading to watch the fireworks extravaganza on the Tel Aviv beachfront. "On an average day, about 50,000 cars pass between the La Guardia and Rokah interchanges on the Ayalon expressway. Yesterday there was double that amount," director of the expressway, Shai Barak, estimated.
