The government rejected on Sunday Education Minister Yuli Tamir's request to halt the approval process of funding for independent education institutions. Tamir stated that approving the new budget, which was presented by Shas MK Meshulam Nahari, would lead to the financing of educational institutions such as those of the Hamas. Israel Radio reported that the government would continue with the legislative process, but meanwhile Tamir will order the local authorities to distribute the budget equally between the various independent educational establishments.
