Taxi driver seriously hurt in stabbing near Kibbutz Palmahim

A 72-year-old taxi driver was seriously wounded overnight Monday when he was attacked by passengers near Kibbutz Palmahim. Police said that the attackers tried to rob the driver and stabbed him in his lower body. The driver, a Rehovot resident, managed to fight off the assailants and get out the vehicle. The attackers fled the scene, leaving the wounded man on the road. The 72-year-old was evacuated to Asaf Harofeh Hospital in Tzrifin where he underwent an operation. He was listed in serious but stable condition.
