The Tel Aviv District Court rejected the request of the family of an 80-year-old aneurysm-victim to discontinue the use of machines keeping him alive.
The court based its decision on a law approved this week in the Knesset's Labor, Social Affairs, and Health Committee, according to which these types of requests would only be accepted if the sick person's life expectancy does not exceed six months.
The court determined that the man, who is in a "vegetable state," does not fill the conditions set out by the new law, Army Radio reported.
