Thief preys on Jerusalem seniors

A 28 year-old Israeli man was arrested Tuesday for allegedly stealing tens of thousands of shekels from Jerusalem seniors while posing as an electrician from the Electric Company, police said. The suspected thief visited at least 20 city homes to 'check the safety of electric sockets' during which time he would pocket jewelry and hundreds or thousands of shekels in cash, Jerusalem police spokesman Shmuel Ben-Ruby said. The suspect, who was placed under house arrest by a Jerusalem court on Tuesday, will be indicted by the end of the week, the police said.
