Three Hamas lawmakers detained in Jerusalem

Three Hamas parliamentarians from east Jerusalem were detained by police Monday for questioning in the wake of an illegal Hamas gathering on the Temple Mount, police said. The three lawmakers, Mohammed Abu-Tir, Mohammed a-Tun and Khaled Abu-Arfa were taken into custody on suspicion of organizing a Hamas march that took place at the east Jerusalem holy site last Friday, Jerusalem police spokesman Shmuel Ben-Ruby said. The three men who have been repeatedly detained by police in the past were expected to be released later Monday afternoon. The move was the latest Israeli crackdown on Hamas activity in east Jerusalem.
