Three-centimeter thumbtack extracted from 11-year-old girl's lung

A 3-centimeter-long thumbtack was extracted Tuesday from the lung of an 11-year-old girl in Haifa's Carmel Hospita. The girl had apparently accidentally swallowed the tack after inserting it into her mouth.
Army Radio reported that the hospital warned that putting foreign objects in the mouth can cause asphyxiation.
