Three Palestinian terrorists were killed early Thursday in an IDF operation in the West Bank town of Nablus, the military said.
The men killed were the commander of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine in the city and two of his accomplices.
The senior operative was identified as Bashar Hanani. According to the IDF, he was responsible for planning the suicide bombing in the Carmel Market in Tel Aviv 18 months ago, which claimed the lives of three Israelis, and the attack at the Geha Junction outside Tel Aviv two years ago, in which four Israelis were murdered.
The other two were Anas Al-Sheikh and Ahmed Jiyousi, both members of the Al Aksa Martyrs' Brigades.
Troops entered the town in pursuit of wanted men, and opened fire on a building where terrorists had holed up after shots were directed at them from inside the house, the military said. The gunmen were shot as they tried to flee, it said.
The PFLP threatened revenge. "Israel will pay the price for this crime," said Kaed Al Ghoul, a senior PFLP leader.
On Wednesday, an undercover unit of the Border Police killed a Hamas gunman in a shoot-out in the West Bank city of Jenin.
Ziad Musa, 23, was wanted for the killing of St.-Sgt. Yonatan Evron on November 2 during an IDF operation to arrest a Hamas fugitive involved in the Hadera suicide bombing.
Evron was a member of the elite Maglan unit.
