Two people were killed in separate crashes in the North and near the Wolfson Hospital in Holon on Sunday. A man in his 50s was killed when his bicycle was hit by a car not far from the entrance to the Wolfson Hospital. Magen David Adom paramedics tried in vain to resuscitate the bicyclist and he was declared dead at the scene. The car driver, who was lightly hurt in the crash, was taken to the hospital for treatment and was afterwards due to be questioned. Police said there was a suspicion that the car driver, a resident of Bat Yam, may have been under the influence of alcohol. The other fatality occurred when a car went out of control and overturned on the road between the Beit Rimon and Hamovil junctions in Lower Galilee. MDA paramedics said the driver, a 47-year-old man from a village in the area, was dead at the scene. His 18-year-old son, who was sitting in the front passenger seat, was lightly hurt, treated at the scene by paramedics and taken to Afula s Ha'emek Hospital. Police were investigating the cause of the crash. A total of 80 people were injured over the weekend in road accidents. Three of the injuries were serious.
