The US and Israel will establish a joint committee that would examine how Washington could assist Israel in developing defense systems that would protect the Jewish state from both ballistic missiles and short-range projectiles, Israel Radio reported early Wednesday morning. The decision to establish the committee was made by Defense Minister Ehud Barak in a meeting with US Defense Secretary Robert Gates. An Israeli official was quoted by Israel Radio as saying that the sides also discussed ways to upgrade the Arrow 2 missile, and agreed on establishing special teams to explore the options to do so.
