The US administration has prevented the permanent appointment of acting Defense Ministry Director-General Yehihel Horev due to his involvement in Israel's arms deals with China.
According to Israel Radio, US officials warned that Israeli-American defense ties would be undermined if Horev takes on the position on a permanent basis.
Horev will continue to serve as chief security officer in the Defense Ministry.
